immediate relief

distribution of basic needs

We believe social change can blossom when people are empowered by the personal dignity of having their basic needs met and the opportunity to direct their own lives. Flip Flop Foundation includes a team of dedicated Zambians who want to improve the lives of Zambian children by providing necessities for living and the enjoyment of life. Through its extensive relationships with Zambian recipient and partner institutions, Flip Flop Foundation is able to help realize the dreams of innovative Zambian social workers. We provide the means, in the form of shoes, clothing, food or other supplies, that help our recipients and partners achieve their goals of educating, housing, and caring for Zambian children.

To date, Flip Flop Foundation has executed hundreds of distributions to over 50 orphanages, community schools, community-based programs, hospices and related organizations supporting orphans and vulnerable children. While support has been primarily focused in Lusaka Province, we reach recipient organizations throughout Zambia through our implementing partners. Distributions have included over 6,000 pairs of flip flops, thousands of items of clothing and chitenge cloth, blankets and bed sheets, food, school supplies, mosquito nets, hygiene supplies, sporting equipment, and toys.

In 2009, Pfizer Inc provided a grant to the Flip Flop Foundation to help combat malaria.

In addition to providing funds to purchase insecticide-treated mosquito nets and net curtains, this grant has enabled us to support programs that educate the community on the prevention, symptoms and treatment of malaria as well as on the importance and proper use of mosquito nets.

These programs include the use of drama and group facilitation targeted to children and their caretakers.
